To mirror the elegant taste of the Saks Fifth Avenue male shopper, the retail powerhouse previewed both its eponymous and Crown collections atop the Setai Fifth Avenue’s seamlessly
chic penthouse. The space was gorgeously adorned with strategically decorated display cases holding rows of soft cashmere sweaters, Shetland tweed hats next to newly reworked woven
belts and leather goods shining under track lighting, lying adjacent to sleek tie bar sets and airplane cufflinks. The ambiance coolly delivered Saks’ intended message: A man of refined
taste can dress like a metropolitan king without breaking the bank Dior Homme style.

Vice President and Fashion Director of Men’s & Home,
Eric Jennings, was on hand for a one-on-one walk-through of the brand new collections, both available in stores this June. In
general, the highly artisanal pieces elegantly placed throughout the room worked like the perfect amalgam of three schools of chic men’s dressing. “Italian dressing with a British twist and
reinterpreted for the modern American man,” is how Jennings describes it. It’s an easy enough sartorial progression to follow. The Italian trademarks abounded in the above par
craftsmanship, particularly impressive in the versatile assortment of leather – from boots, to wallets and in assortments of tailored suiting. The posh inclinations were certainly satisfied in
the suiting as well, the best offerings surely being those gorgeous Harris Tweed dress jackets. The odes to mountaineering throughout the Saks collection, with marled and tweeded
sweaters, durable outerwear and rugged boots were where the line truly showcased its strong heritage with a serious dose of solid Americana.

“We are highlighting five key trends this season within the collection,” offered Jennings. “Prominent plaids, camel, 3-D knits in deep autumnal tones, toggles on jackets and sweaters and
monk straps.” Those same deep autumnal tones were especially chic-smart in Saks’ new line-up of Escorial ties and for the decent array of footwear, they were keen enough to highlight
their monk strap oxford, which is definitely the most sartorially sound choice of the bunch.

Saks’ Crown collection, which the retail giant plans to bring to 27 stores across the country, is geared more for the man who likes to hit the town without treading the too casual waters. The
line offers button-up shirts fixed in luxurious cottons and jacquards, delicate wovens and knits, eyewear in various shapes, Italian-made footwear with that extra sense of comfort and a
couple of tracksuits refined for those lax, mid-afternoon drives with the top down.

With this range of fine quality offerings, it looks like Saks is ready for shoppers to skip all those extraneous boutiques and head straight for the homemade goods. While the store does
indeed offer some of the best name brands in the world, these dual collections make one thing clear for those who have followed the progress of the line’s heritage and those new fans
jumping on the bandwagon – it’s a whole brand new day at Saks.
