It was all about the “golden twenties” for designer Gregor Clemens' LAC ET MEL Spring '09 collection. Show attendees grooved to
subtle soft beats from an era associated with glitz and glam. The collection dubbed Rue Cambon was inspired by Coco Chanel’s
catapult to the pinnacles of the international 1920s fashion scene. Clemens’ line is committed to eco-methods. Most striking about
this collection was the purple button detail methods. Most striking about this collection was the purple button detail on all the pieces
and his clever interpretation of classic looks with bursts of color.
The designs of Sisi Wasabi’s Spring 2009 collection were intended to reflect “Confident Couture
meets Noble Savage”. Wasabi’s use of lustrous silk fabrics combined with flowing chiffon was
sheer feminine luxury at its finest. Each piece seemed to awe and captivate the audience as classic
forms were contradicted with modern variations in shape and size. One of the show-stopping pieces
was a tangerine silk plaited micro-mini dress equipped with large frontal pockets
and topped by a sky high British-like hat adorned with a single feather
(pictured left). The inspiration for the collection came from Morocco, where
Wasabi was enchanted by the beauty of precious robes amidst smoky alleys.
