Qingqing Wu Finds Inspiration From the Graceful Letter V
For spring/summer 2012, Chinese designer and China Fashion Week 2009 Menswear Designer Award recipient,
Qingqing Wu, was inspired by the “graphic and graceful” letter V. We could see the strong linear references in the lapel
of the men’s suiting and the asymmetrical zipper detailing throughout the collection.
Separates included nylon pants with elastic cuffed hems, loose walking shorts and trousers paired with a wide array of
jackets - from two tone kimono styles with utilitarian belts and strong shoulders in gray and black to collarless and
fitted with asymmetrical zippers across the waistline and chest in a bright cerulean blue.
A series of men’s suiting as mentioned were the toast of the collection. Liquid black with exaggerated lapels and
slightly transparent white, with the zipper accent were paired with slim trousers and tailored to perfection. Shiny draped
tops and five button vest with baggy denim also made an impression and I died for the round collar drawstring waist
VLOV's latest collection completely done in black, white, shades of gray and blue, may be a hit with the fashion set and
the more metro sexual male but I fear most men state side aren’t ready to push the envelope that far…at least not yet. I
will, however be trying to get my man into one of the many killer blazers next season. And he should not fret because
the hooded metallic grey boxy track jacket is a not as sophisticated but still chic alternative.
