Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2011
By Qianna Smith
It may have been a dreary, rainy day outside of the Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2011 Womenswear runway show, but inside of the Armani headquarters' theater the mood was cool and
confident as guests ‒ including actresses
Megan Fox, Jada Pinkett Smith and daughter Willow ‒ prepared for Giorgio Armani’s ‘Fancy Girl’ to take center stage. The recent GQ magazine
‘Designer of the Year’ honoree sent 80 looks down the catwalk in vibrantly fresh and glittering mineral colors that complemented the design's 'quality of wit and fun, casual and free from
convention, most often associated with sportswear.' Revitalizing the concept of daywear, Armani presented a youthful, yet refined take on what women want and should be wearing to the
office, proving that the traditional suit is dead. Hemlines noticeably fell right above the knee, meaning skin is still "in," but only a hint of it.

The key pieces of the collection were cropped jackets with defined shoulders made of 'rubberished raffia,' leggings paired with short skirts constructed with stretch tulle and knee-high
Bermuda shorts featuring 'thermo-welded leather strips.' Equally impressive were the accessories that gave off an ethnic vibe. The eye catching necklaces came in varying lengths and
eclectic shapes that contrasted perfectly with the Emporio tailor made signature style.
Our favorite eveningwear pieces were a string of eight monochromatic watermelon red dresses and high heels that further honed into the youthfulness Armani was seeking for the coming
season. Other noteworthy elements of the evening dresses were the shapes ‒ flared, straight necklines and ultra slim shoulder straps ‒ that were über fancy.
