What features of MYKITA would you describe as inspired
from entertainment and/or pop-culture?
Philipp: Talking about MYKITA Metropolitan, here we chose
famous movie-stars from the past and present (such as
Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren), and did a new
interpretation of the eyewear style that they used to wear in
their famous roles.

As the MYKITA line develops and collections expand, what
are your plans for growth and to be recognized as an
industry leader?
Philipp: Apart from our detailed work in eyewear couture, we
spend a lot of time doing research. In our eyewear, you will
always find a special feature - mostly concerning the hinge
technology. Right now, we are doing some experiments with a
very new material, which opens a new playground to us. For
the moment, I cannot disclose any further details, but we are
quite sure that we will be presenting it to the market in a very
near future.
Sunglasses add instant style to a wardrobe. Describe the allure of the MYKITA style and
what separates it from other sunglass lines on the market?
Philipp: Most remarkable difference of our frames to other products is the Concept of the
production process. Frames of MYKITA' s collection no. 1 are made of 0.5 mm highly flexible
flat sheet metal. Just by bending the components, it becomes a 3 dimensional object. The
result is a distinctive look - a look that stands for contemporary eyewear. By this our clientele
can show to the rest of the world: "Look everybody, I am up to date."

MYKITA proclaims it has “a frame for every face.” If you had to choose the face of
MYKITA, celebrity or civilian, who would it be and why?
Philipp: Barrak Obama. By wearing a MYKITA frame, he can point out to his electorate that he
will be the one who is going to modernize the U.S.

Sunglasses are now more than just practical eyewear, they define one’s personal style
and create a fashion statement. How does the MYKITA collection complement what's
going on in fashion and on the runway?
Philipp: More than ever, eyewear changes from a visual aid into an indispensable accessory.
Which means, sunglasses are not only worn when the sun is shining. MYKITA's
"Metropolitan" line gives the answer to this trend: A mix of vintage and contemporary cuts that
easily can be mounted with prescription lenses.
