What does Bulga mean, and what unique qualities
are associated with the name?
The BULGA name originates from the ancient Latin
and French languages, and meant a small leather or
money bag. BULGA’s philosophy is to create luxury
products for the modern woman focusing on
confidence, quality and originality.

What woman's traits would you associate with the
Bulga Handbag style?
Chloe Sevigny embodies the spirit of Bulga. She is
very versatile, universal, intelligent, talented and a bit
provocative in her choices.

Can you tell us how and why you selected the
distinctive interior pattern in your handbags?
Our first and only choice was a floral design, and to be
true to BULGA the design had to be a bit seductive and
secretive. The focus is on the orchid flower. Orchids
represent elegance and sensuality, qualities that
speak to the BULGA woman.

How does your personal style reflect in your
designs?
I like to think of myself as a woman that knows what
she wants. I am very straightforward with my feelings
and emotions. Perhaps these qualities are translated
into BULGA’s color palette and leather. Sensuality
comes through my choices in leather- BULGA’s
leather is extremely soft, subtle and gets even more
beautiful with time.

What particular handbag from your Spring/Summer Collection could you see a jet-setting woman
carrying this coming travel season?
Definitely the Marquis bag. The Marquis is perfect for your travel essentials. It has tons of compartments
and it is both roomy and light.

If you could only choose one destination city for this summer, what would it be and why?
Barcelona and the part of Catalonia where Dali and Gala lived. This is a very artsy community, almost
surreal. The life and style from the 40’s is in the air and I like to design around this feeling.

The Fashion Q&A product team fell in love with the samples from your Spring Collection. What can we
expect for Fall and what inspired your Fall Collection?
My inspiration for Fall 2008 was Edith Piaf and the great film, La Vie en Rose. I was so inspired by her life
story, her sadness and triumph. I used these feelings and images to create the Fall collection.

From Fall you can expect to fall in love with BULGA again and again!
What items can be found in your beach bag, and what is your
favorite beach destination?
Again, Barcelona. I am such a minimalist in situations like this; I
like to go hands-free.

What type of food keeps you coming back for more?
French food of course.

What keeps you entertained on a long-haul flight?
Usually the company of my husband.

Describe your favorite make-up look when traveling?
Most of the time when I am traveling it's usually long distance, so
I like to travel light -- one bag and very little make-up.

What is your favorite city in France and why?
Paris, because it is the city of love.

Paris is known as the city of fashion. What do you consider to
be the essence of Parisian style?
Rock and love.

Fashion Q&A organized a photo shoot starring a few of your
bags from your Spring Collection at the Palace of Versailles.
What about the Palace of Versailles do you think embodies
the spirit of your Spring Collection?
A bit of intrigue, attention to details, wit, humor and of course the
colors.

What are your thoughts on the over-sized handbag craze?
I personally like this trend. You can see my take on this trend
throughout the collection with bags like the Marquis, Adore and
Le Crousser.

Perhaps humanity was so overwhelmed with everything that they
needed a bag that could hold on to everything.
