Q.
What celebrity man would you love to dress and why?
SCOTT.
I am not a celebrity chaser. All the celeb clients I have dressed in the past have found me, and for that I am
thankful.
Q.
You basically showed 3 collections in one. Can you describe stylistically, what the difference is between Richard Harris Felt,
LTD and R. Scott French?
SCOTT.
The three collections represent a clothing sensibility for every type of man.
Richard Harris Felt is a designer suit and sportswear collection for the fashion aware man who exudes confidence
and appreciates the impeccable quality of fabrics and is attentive to the dedication and time put into a well tailored
designer suit.
LTD represents the Rock ‘n Roller in all of us. This ostentatious collection is full of bolder colors, more committal
patterns and fabrics, and extreme silhouettes.
R. Scott French is the collection nearest to my sensibility- “Geek Chic” It strikes a balance between item driven
diversity and the cohesive development of a designer look with European influences combined with a clean
American sensibility.
Q.
Your collection had to be one of the largest shown in the Tents. Out of 67 designs can you pick your top 3 favorites and explain
why?
SCOTT.
It’s always hard to pick a favorite when designing a collection. You wind up putting so much time and effort into the
entirety of the looks that picking favorites just doesn’t seem right.
Q.
What's the worst fashion faux pas?
SCOTT.
Not caring and believing that fashion doesn’t apply to you.
Q.
What is the feeling going on inside you 5 minutes to show time? And after?
SCOTT.
Before the show I slip in a calm hyper focused Zen. When it is all over I feel a euphoric depression. Both before
and after my mental state is the same, in that I have done everything that I can do and that things are out of my
hands now and whatever happens, happens.
Q.
After designing lingerie when you were at French Jenny what do you think makes a woman sexy and do you have plans at
some point to create a line for women?
SCOTT.
Confidence; the self assurance to wear and do what they want. I have designed a women’s collection in the past,
but right now my focus is on the under served menswear market.
Q.
What song do you repeat on your i-pod?
SCOTT.
Kenny Chesney’s - Anything But Mine.
Q.
Who was the first person to call and congratulate you after the showing of your Fall collection?
SCOTT.
Well the first person to come back stage was Stan Herman of the CFDA- it meant a tremendous amount to me as
he represents fashion legitimacy with appreciation and congratulations.
Q.
What was the worst thing you ever designed?
SCOTT.
Although sometimes I look back and wonder what I was thinking at the time, everything that I have designed was in
season and well made: therefore at the time it couldn't have been that bad.
