I was warned before I went to the Telfar show
that designer, Telfar Clemens, is known for
creating unwearable collections. But, Fashion
Q&A is all about support emerging designing
talent so I decided to go to the show anyways.

I should have guessed what dark and dreary
fashion disaster I was getting myself into when I
learned the show was being held on Sunday,
February 3rd at St. Mark's Church (131 E. 10th
Street).

Telfar's inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 08'
season was the exoskeleton, which made the
grave stone surrounded St. Mark's Church a
befitting backdrop for this collection.

Military mode punk looking models marched out
one by one stomping their feet to a sober beat
from the sound system. The Church was so dark
that it was difficult to see the craftsmanship of
his designs or lack there of. The most notable
items of the collection were gray and steel
colored jumpsuits and over-sized business coats.

In terms of theatrics the show was captivating. I
did not know if I was watching a runway show
or at a scary movie. If Telfar was tyring to make
a fashion DON'T statement, mission
accomplished.

Collection rating:
A disappointing 4 out of 10.
