What city do you think is currently the world's eco-cosmetic capital?
LUCY
Having lived in Sydney Australia for many years and now Los Angeles, Both are very eco-cosmetic. In Australia we produce many
eco-cosmetic ranges that are really becoming out there the forefront of what we buy here in the USA especially in California.
Your cosmetic line is produced with many of the finest organic compounds on the market. What inspired you to go green with
your makeup line? Have you always used organic products in your work?
LUCY
I have always loved natural remedies and was introduced to yoga mediation and healthy foods by my mother. As there were lots of
make-up artist ranges out there that were not natural, as a make-up artist I consistently heard of reactions, people wanting to omit
chemicals from their lifestyle so it was an obvious niche in the cosmetics market that was waiting to boom.

You say "A good laugh is an essential ingredient everyday"; when you need a pick-me-up, to whom do you turn for a guaranteed giggle?
LUCY
My husband, my dog, funny home videos.. Friends.. A good comedy. I really do try to see the humor in everything it’s so fun at yoga class a teacher had us just sit and say hahahahah.. After
two minutes of doing this in a class of 50 people that place was hysterical with laughter. They say that it actually massages your insides, stimulates all your organs.. So yes that is one of my
essential ingredients of each day.
What makes the botanicals used in your line magical?
LUCY
They are grown in the wild in one of the most unpolluted lands on earth Australia, the company we aligned ourselves with that supplies them to us, pray and meditate over them as they are
infusing them. The aboriginal people of Australia have used these flowers for healing emotional, physical and spiritual imbalances for thousands of years. (As did the Egyptians) Flower
essences are a very powerful yet a gentle way to help balance the soul. The product we make is already a beautiful formulation and with the added benefit of our confidence enhancing botanical
flower essences make it very magical indeed.
Fashion Q&A is very excited to try your eye pencils, shadows and rogue. Can you give us a preview, e.g. to what we can look forward to in these new products?
When can we get our mitts on them?
LUCY
Product wise we currently have our Organic Frangipani Bronzer, our Organic Lemonade Lip Balm, Six sheer Lip Glosses, four tinted Lip balms, and four shimmery eye silk shadows.
The new Rouge we are working on has hydrating minerals and flower essences as well. The eye pencils will be organic as will our powdered bronzer. We plan to launch these new products in
September 2008
We have more body & face products on the drawing board that are biodynamic which ingredients are also of a very high quality.
Who are your favorite fashion conscience designers and why?
LUCY
I LOVE designers in fashion & art that inspire. For me they include Stella McCartney who does what she says in a cool new way... Love her CARE range and that she does not use leather. An
architect from Italy called ??? Can’t remember his name! He did a brilliant building in Noumea that was designed so that when it was winding played music.. It was so very cool, subtle yet
thoughtful.
You are a very stylish woman. What are your thoughts on the trend that “green” is the new “black”?
LUCY
Well it’s true.. But black will always be cool too! I am a true believer that we all want to help impact the planet, our lives, other peoples karmically and instantly in a positive way and I think
by each person doing what they can and being passionate about it even if its 10/ 20/ 30 or 100% of your lives I believe as do many others we WILL make a difference.. The power of the
people in the world has become VERY evident on EVERY level.. It’s the people’s revolution in every way! It feels great to be a part of this movement as every person can be by choosing to
buy or produce products that are green. We are choosing to produce more products locally to help lower the transporting of products around the world. While I admit it is very challenging, its
possible, I feel every less flight/ boat our products take helps!
Looking for a new bronzer is such a daunting task these days, there are so many choices. What makes Frangipani Bronzing Shimmer Oil different than other bronzers on the
market?
LUCY
It’s made from all organic oils coconut, jojoba & sunflower plus the color is from bronze color Mica a mineral. It’s a body face and hair hydrator. We sell out each time we put it in a store. It’s
in a gorgeous bottle and even though it’s organic we sell it at a great price $42. I still love powder ones and we are working on an organic powdered bronzer also.
In your eyes, what is the biggest beauty slip up that most women often make? How important is the use of natural products in keeping a youthful and radiant appearance?
LUCY
The Biggest beauty slip up in my world is that some women use too much make-up and forget to smile and be happy. I believe it is a choice. I definitely think cutting down on how many
chemicals we ingest/ or put on our skin will help us look more youthful and radiant and KNOWING that all beauty campaigns are either fake lashes, re-touched skin, body shape& hair
extensions. After being there and working on them myself I see how it’s all done. I think on the one hand it’s great to produce an image that people can aspire to but sometimes it a very
unrealistic goal! I have a string of beliefs we nurture & add to consistently at Lucy B and one of them is Lucy B believes we are all beautiful inside and out. What we believe for long enough
sometimes becomes our reality. That’s what having a dream is all about, manifesting it on a physical level.
The past ten years in the beauty industry have really shifted, many
women are spending hundreds of thousands to upkeep their youth in
the form of cosmetic surgery, how do you feel this changes the way
consumers buy beauty products?
LUCY
Originally cosmetic surgery was for people who needed corrective surgery if
disfigured or had cancer and had breast removed for instance, I feel people
have become way too casual about it. It is such a personal choice, I don’t
think its something I would do unless I had to. But we all have to do what we
want at the end of the day. As long as you’re comfortable with your choices
there’s no wrong or right about it, my advice: research it first. I love
acupuncture and believe if tiny needles can balance you, I wonder what some
people are doing to themselves with cuts here and there. How much it can
affect your energy and system for a very long time. The perception of what
is beautiful has defiantly become distorted I think. But as they say beauty is
in the eye of the beholder.
How has your experience in print or on set influenced the way you
created your line?
LUCY
Very much so, I am very fortunate to have great inspiring men and woman
around me , On shoots we a look, a feeling that translates well to the buyer
so that she or he feel an alignment in their lives with that products that helps
them live a more fulfilling life hopefully! At Lucy B I feel our goal was to
transcend just an image and create a vibrational product that was full of
flower essences, organic ingredients as our Lemonade Lip Balm and
Franginapi Bronzing shimmer oil is. They are products that work and what
we all need daily, Hydrating, bronzing, shimmery. Our glosses are a mix,
were working on an organic eye shadow and powders now too.
